How to use HTML color codes?

With HTML color codes you can set the color of web site background, color of text, cells in tables and much more.

Using HTML color codes for web site background color:

<body style="background:#80BFFF">

Using HTML color codes for setting font/text color:

<span style="color:#80BFFF">

Using HTML color codes for table background color:

<table style="background:#80BFFF">

Using HTML color code for link color:

<a style="color:#80BFFF">

Redirect to a New Page

If you need to redirect your visitors to a new page, this HTML redirect code may be just what you're looking for.

When designing a web site, many times you must change the location of a web page. However, if the page is popular, your visitors may have already linked to it. In addition, the Search Engines have most-likely already indexed the page.

For this reason, it is best to replace your page with a new page that will redirect your visitors to the new page. This provides a great way to provide your visitors with the information they were looking for and prevent you from losing your traffic.

However, when using this HTML redirect code, please ensure that you don't use it to trick the Search Engines, as this could get your web site banned. It is always best to work hard and learn quality ways in which to drive traffic to your web site.

Place the following HTML redirect code between the
and
tags of your HTML code.

Code
<div class="codeMessage" style="border:1px inset;max-height:200px;overflow:auto;height:expression(this.scrollHeight<5?this.style.height:scrollHeight>200?'200px':''+(this.scrollHeight+5)+'px');">

The above HTML redirect code will redirect your visitors to another web page instantly. The content="0; may be changed to the number of seconds you want the browser to wait before redirecting.

HTML - Attributes

HTML - Attributes

Attributes are used to amplify tags. What we mean by amplify is that when a web browser interprets a tag, it will also search for set attributes and then display the element (tags+attributes) in its entirety. At some point you may want to give your body element a background color or perhaps change the width of a table. All of these things and more can be achieved using Attributes.

Many HTML tags have a unique set of their own attributes. These will be discussed as each tag is introduced throughout the tutorial. Right now we want to focus on a set of generic attributes that can be used with just about every HTML Tag in existence.

Attributes are placed within the opening tag and they follow a precise syntax (format).

HTML - Tags

Beginning HTML Tags!
A web browser reads an HTML document top to bottom, left to right. Each time the browser finds a tag, it is displayed accordingly (paragraphs look like paragraphs, tables look like tables, etc). Tags have 3 major parts: opening tag(s), content(s), and closing tag(s). Recall that a completed tag is termed an element. By adding tags to an HTML document, you signal to the browser "Hey look, I'm a paragraph tag, now treat me as such."
As you will learn, there are probably hundreds of HTML Tags. Tables, images, lists, forms, and everything else being displayed on an web page requires the use of a tag or two.
HTML Code:

Code
<div class="codeMessage" style="border:1px inset;max-height:200px;overflow:auto;height:expression(this.scrollHeight<5?this.style.height:scrollHeight>200?'200px':''+(this.scrollHeight+5)+'px');"><openingtag>Content</closingtag>

A Paragraph Tag

Tags should be lower-case letters if you plan on publishing your work. This is the standard for XHTML and Dynamic HTML. Here's quick look at some HTML tags.
HTML Tags:

Code
<div class="codeMessage" style="border:1px inset;max-height:200px;overflow:auto;height:expression(this.scrollHeight<5?this.style.height:scrollHeight>200?'200px':''+(this.scrollHeight+5)+'px');">
Body Tag (acts as a content shell)
Paragraph Tag

Heading Tag

Bold Tag
Italic Tag

HTML Elements
HTML elements exist on many levels. Everything you see in front of you, the paragraph texts, the Tizag banner, and the navigation links on the left are all elements of this web page. An element in HTML is a loose term that describes each individual piece of your web page.
An element consists of three basic parts: an opening tag, the element's content, and finally, a closing tag.
1.
- opening paragraph tag
2. Element Content - paragraph words
3.
- closing tag
Every (web)page requires four critical elements: the html, head, title, and body elements.

How can I make a picture larger or smaller using just HTML?

How can I make a picture larger or smaller using just HTML?

Simply! Just change the values in the HEIGHT and WIDTH attributes of the IMG tag. Be mindful of what is called the aspect ratio. The example below is a perfect square. It is actually a 40x40 icon, but I show it as 20x20, 80x80, and 120x120. If your graphic is 400 wide by 40 high, it has one unit of height for every ten of width. So if you wanted to make it a bit bigger, you could try 500x50 or 440x44. Hmmm, what if we did 100X25??

REMEMBER TO ALWAYS SET YOUR WIDTH &am HEIGHT VALUES. This is important. Many browsers can't show anything until they know where all the pieces of your page are going to fall.

example:

source code:

Code
<div class="codeMessage" style="border:1px inset;max-height:200px;overflow:auto;height:expression(this.scrollHeight<5?this.style.height:scrollHeight>200?'200px':''+(this.scrollHeight+5)+'px');">

must be equal to or greater than 1

<frame scrolling="value"> Sets whether the frame has a scrollbar; value may equal “yes,” “no,” or “auto.” The default, as in ordinary documents, is auto.

<frame noresize="noresize"> Prevents the user from resizing a frame
Forms

For functional forms, you’ll have to run a script. The HTML just creates the appearance of a form.

Creates all forms

Creates a scrolling menu. Columns set the width; rows set the height.

Creates a checkbox. Text follows tag.

Creates a radio button. Text follows tag

Creates a one-line text area.

This page contains code for a CSS floating menu bar.
Also known as "fixed menus" and "hovering menus", floating menus stay in a fixed position when you scroll the page. They appear to "float" on top of the page as you scroll.
Example of a Floating Menu
The menu to the left is an example of a floating menu. As you scroll down this page, you will notice the menu stays fixed in the same position on the screen.
Create A Floating Menu
It is actually very easy to create a floating menu bar. The operative code is position:fixed.
Having said this, you may have to play around a bit with the placement of your menu so that it doesn't get in the way of anything that it shouldn't.
Example Code

Code
<div class="codeMessage" style="border:1px inset;max-height:200px;overflow:auto;height:expression(this.scrollHeight<5?this.style.height:scrollHeight>200?'200px':''+(this.scrollHeight+5)+'px');">

Floating Menu

CSS
HTML
JavaScript
ColdFusion
MySpace Codes

Here is the CSS code that was used to create the floating menu to the side:

Floating Menu
CSS HTML JavaScript ColdFusion MySpace Codes

Feel free to change the width, color, and other properties as you wish (as long as you don't remove position:fixed).
As mentioned, you may also need to play around with the placement of your fixed menu. You can remove/change the z-index:100 if you don't want the menu to float on top of everything.
Older Browsers
Note that this code may not work in older browsers. This is because some older browsers don't support position:fixed. If the above example doesn't work for you, this could be the reason. In that case, try using a newer browse

What is the index.html page?

Every website is built inside directories on a Web server. And each Web page is a separate file on that Web server. But sometimes, when you go to a URL, there is no file listed in the URL. For example:
http://brna.co.cc/
But there is still a file that the Web server needs to serve in order for that URL to display anything other than an error page. This file is the default page for that directory. On most Web servers, the default page in a directory is named "index.html".
What this means is that when you go to a URL without a file named at the end, the server looks for a default file and displays that automatically. Just as if you had typed in that file name in the URL:
http://brna.co.cc/index.html
There are Three Default Page Names
There are three commonly used default page names that you can use on most Web servers:
* index.html
* index.htm
* default.htm (on some Windows servers)
It's a good idea to stick with index.html or index.htm on most servers, as default.htm is most often used on Windows servers, and isn't as common as it used to be.
You Should Have an index.html Page in All Your Directories
Whenever you have a directory on your website you should have an index.html page. This allows your readers to see a page when they come to that directory without typing a file name in the URL. It also prevents them from seeing things you might not want them to see.
If you don't put in an index.html file in a directory, most Web servers will display a file listing of all the files in that directory. While in some situations, you might want that, most of the time this is ugly at best and a security hole at worst. Writing a default Web page and naming it index.html helps solve those problems.
Your Homepage Should be an index.html Page
When you start building your website, you should create your main page and name it index.html. This is true whether you're using a free hosting service or you have your own domain name. That way, when people come to your URL, they automatically get your main page. All other pages will have names like "about.html" or "contact.html", but your home page should file should be called "index.html".

Hyperlinks, Anchors, and Links
In web terms, a hyperlink is a reference (an address) to a resource on the web.
Hyperlinks can point to any resource on the web: an HTML page, an image, a sound file, a movie, etc.
An anchor is a term used to define a hyperlink destination inside a document.
The HTML anchor element , is used to define both hyperlinks and anchors.
We will use the term HTML link when the element points to a resource, and the term HTML anchor when the elements defines an address inside a document..

HTML Color Codes Theory

So you are wondering "Does this weird combination of letters and numbers have any meaning?" Well the answer is "Yes" and this is how it goes:)

HTML Codes format:

Each HTML code contains symbol "#" and 6 letters or numbers. These numbers are in hexadecimal numeral system. For example "FF" in hexadecimal represents number 255 in Decimal.

Meaning of symbols:

The first two symbols in HTML color code represents the intensity of red color. 00 is the least and FF is the most intense.
The third and fourth represents intensity of green and fifth and sixth represents the intensity of blue.
So with combining the intensity of red, green and blue we can mix almost any color that our heart desire;)

Examples:

#FF0000 - With this HTML code we tell browser to show maximum of red and no green and no blue.
The result is of course pure red color:

#00FF00 - This HTML code shows just green and no red and blue.
The result is:

#0000FF - This HTML code shows just blue and no red and green.
The result is:

#FFFF00 - Combination of red and green color gives us yellow:

#CCEEFF - Take some red a bit more of green and maximum of blue to get color of sky:

Have fun!

HTML, which stands for HyperText Markup Language, is the predominant markup language for web pages. It provides a means to create structured documents by denoting structural semantics for text such as headings, paragraphs, lists etc as well as for links, quotes, and other items. It allows images and objects to be embedded and can be used to create interactive forms. It is written in the form of HTML elements consisting of "tags" surrounded by angle brackets within the web page content. It can include or can load scripts in languages such as JavaScript which affect the behavior of HTML processors like Web browsers; and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to define the appearance and layout of text and other material. The W3C, maintainer of both HTML and CSS standards, encourages the use of CSS over explicit presentational markup.
In 1980, physicist Tim Berners-Lee, who was a contractor at CERN, proposed and prototyped ENQUIRE, a system for CERN researchers to use and share documents. In 1989, Berners-Lee wrote a memo proposing an Internet-based hypertext system. Berners-Lee specified HTML and wrote the browser and server software in the last part of 1990. In that year, Berners-Lee and CERN data systems engineer Robert Cailliau collaborated on a joint request for funding, but the project was not formally adopted by CERN. In his personal notes, from 1990 he lists "some of the many areas in which hypertext is used", and puts an encyclopedia first .
The first publicly available description of HTML was a document called HTML Tags, first mentioned on the Internet by Berners-Lee in late 1991.It describes 20 elements comprising the initial, relatively simple design of HTML. Except for the hyperlink tag, these were strongly influenced by SGMLguid, an in-house SGML based documentation format at CERN. Thirteen of these elements still exist in HTML 4.
HTML is a text and image formatting language used by web browsers to dynamically format web pages. Many of the text elements are found in the 1988 ISO technical report TR 9537 Techniques for using SGML, which in turn covers the features of early text formatting languages such as that used by the RUNOFF command developed in the early 1960s for the CTSS (Compatible Time-Sharing System) operating system: these formatting commands were derived from the commands used by typesetters to manually format documents. However the SGML concept of generalized markup is based on elements (nested annotated ranges with attributes) rather than merely point effects, and also the separation of structure and processing: HTML has been progressively moved in this direction with CSS.
Berners-Lee considered HTML to be an application of SGML, and it was formally defined as such by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) with the mid-1993 publication of the first proposal for an HTML specification: "Hypertext Markup Language (HTML)" Internet-Draft by Berners-Lee and Dan Connolly, which included an SGML Document Type Definition to define the grammar. The draft expired after six months, but was notable for its acknowledgment of the NCSA Mosaic browser's custom tag for embedding in-line images, reflecting the IETF's philosophy of basing standards on successful prototypes. Similarly, Dave Raggett's competing Internet-Draft, "HTML+ (Hypertext Markup Format)", from late 1993, suggested standardizing already-implemented features like tables and fill-out forms.
After the HTML and HTML+ drafts expired in early 1994, the IETF created an HTML Working Group, which in 1995 completed "HTML 2.0", the first HTML specification intended to be treated as a standard against which future implementations should be based.[9] Published as Request for Comments 1866, HTML 2.0 included ideas from the HTML and HTML+ drafts. The 2.0 designation was intended to distinguish the new edition from previous drafts.
Further development under the auspices of the IETF was stalled by competing interests. Since 1996, the HTML specifications have been maintained, with input from commercial software vendors, by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). However, in 2000, HTML also became an international standard (ISO/IEC 15445:2000). The last HTML specification published by the W3C is the HTML 4.01 Recommendation, published in late 1999. Its issues and errors were last acknowledged by errata published in 2001.

Here's the idea: HTML 4 supports a "title" attribute that can be inserted inside any HTML tag. Inserting this attribute effectively gives the element a tooltip that pops up when the mouse moves over it. Are you prepared to give a text link a tooltip? Here goes:

Code
<div class="codeMessage" style="border:1px inset;max-height:200px;overflow:auto;height:expression(this.scrollHeight<5?this.style.height:scrollHeight>200?'200px':''+(this.scrollHeight+5)+'px');">test

example:
test
